Default No Zerk Fittings

WTF!!! See that there are no zerk fittings in the ball joints (maybe none in the entire front). My fittings seem to be dry (empty) and that can't be good. Anyone else see an issue with this??

they are factory sealed. so the dealer can say hey you need new fitting and charge you an arm and leg price on removing and replacing them. just one way they try to keep folks coming back.

It's a pain but, it's the way it is and has always been. My 88, 90, and 92 didn't have any.

I have not checked my new truck, but my old ones had a plug that was used during assembly to lube the joint. You can pull out the plug and insert a fitting and lube away. The alternative is to just drill and tap it yourself. It is really pretty easy to do.

Haven't seen a grease zerk on a car since the mid to late '90s, actually....

I haven't seen zerk fitting in a number of years either.

The reason is simple, most people forget to grease them. The sealed/prelubed factory joints will last longer than a standard joint that isn't lubed regularly.

People forget to grease them anyway or, WORSE, they grease them without cleaning the fitting off first... just injecting a ton of dirt and gunk right into it.
