Price is really not a concern. The ballistic cases to me are not very good looking and part of the sales pitch is on a gimmicky little colored insert. I personally see no benefit to this case over any hard case other than the fact that the bumpers make you "feel" like you have a robust and protective case.
I've used the Lifeproof case and it's also pretty tough and a bit slimmer than the OB Defender. It's a pain to get on and off though and kind of overkill for a day at the office.
The Ballistic case with the colored bumpers for me, is the perfect compromise. It's easy to get on and off, it's pretty low-profile and with a screen protector installed (a separate purchase) makes the phone pretty bomb-proof. The bumpers are made of a softer gel-rubber substance that can really absorb the shock. I've dropped the phone from standing height onto tile and the phone actually bounced around a bit. No damage. No drama. I just picked it back up and put it in my pocket.
The phone with case installed is still pretty sleek and slides easily into/out of my pockets. If I want to go "commando", it only takes a few seconds to take the case off and it is just as easy to get back on....
I disagree that the bumper corners are "gimmicky"...they are fully functional. I've tested them. They work as designed.

I never saw anything about a gimmicky little color insert.Wasent looking either.
The bumppers dont make me feel like I have a protective case ,,,
IT 's,, not having a broken phone ,,that makes me feel like i have a protective case.

Sorry to stray back to the original topic. This question is for anybody with this "Steelie" mount... https://www.niteize.com/product/Stee...-Mount-Kit.asp
When you hit the home button on your IPhone does the phone stay secured? Or do you have to grab the back of the phone and "pinch" the home button?
Also, how does it stay balanced when a wire is hooked to the phone? I intended on plugging my phone in every time its mounted in the truck..
I just bought this "steelie" for $32 shipped on amazon, so I guess I will have my questions answered soon enough. But I am still looking for feedback.

Hey bud,
The home button push does require you to grip the back of the phone to get it pressed. I use the phone in portrait mode almost all the time it's in there. If I plug my charger in putting it in landscape still works but a bump may move it. All in all, I love it!

I'm planning on using my 4s hooked up to a sync/charge cable in vertical mode. Do you think the phone will sag while hooked up, when the ball is mounted on a vertical face?....... If it does sag, do you think some RTV or silicone will stick (adhere) to the ball to create a limit for the phones travel? Sorry if this sounds confusing.

You want a Fixway Mount, you won't have to hold the phone while pressing Any Buttons and its magnetic as well, same price, but a Much Better design!

If there was a hexagon styled "steelie" I do believe my problems would be solved....
