Default Nice chip in my new truck's grille surround

With less than 1000 miles I got this chip in the chrome clad grille surround.

How would you go about repairing it and preventing it from peeling more?

I wish it was a painted to match surround and I'd just use touch up paint.

Yep, got one on those on my previous '11. As we say in the south, "It's just one of them thar thangs".

BTW, you could have it smoothed, and then paint the surround now. But a word of warning. It didn't take no time at all before the first chip showed up on my painted surround.

Like Wanted33 said, you could have it smoothed and painted now, then 3m it to prevent future chips.

Good thought brother, I didn't think about the 3M. And, as you read I didn't think about it on mine either.

Ive got the 3m paint protection all over the front of my truck. Best thing you can do for your truck if you plan on keeping it a long time.

is it a film? I saw an SUV once that had a protective film but it looked like broken glass with all the cracks in it

Will a 2012 Grill fit on a 2013?

Found one on Craigslist really cheap. I could potentially just replace the surround.
