NHTSA investigating 250k F-150s for possible power brake failure
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation into the 2011-2012 Ford F-150 with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 because of potential failure of the power braking assist. If a recall is required, it could affect an estimated 250,000 of the trucks.
This investigation is prompted by NHTSA receiving 32 complaints about the electric vacuum assist pump allegedly failing in these trucks, which then causes the power braking assist to stop working. Drivers claim having no warning beforehand. There are also two reports of crashes that are purportedly linked to the problem, but the government agency lists no injuries. According to NHTSA, the issue may be getting worse because 60 percent of these allegations are from the past nine months.
A preliminary evaluation doesn't necessarily lead to a recall, though. NHTSA uses them "to assess the cause, scope and frequency of the alleged defect." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog: "We will cooperate with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do."

It's just irrelevant to the point of the post. So enjoy your 5 point slow.... Be happy that you are slow and I'm far ahead of you in my ecoboost - because the alternative would be that I'm behind you when my brakes fail. Lol

You realize that the 5.0 is .3 seconds slower with 5 less hp than the egoboost? And I can hear my truck when I hit the gas, and even at highway speeds I can floor it and take off without waiting for turbolag. Don't get my wrong the ego's are fun to drive, but I'll take my tried and true 30 year old motor over something that is having failures A LOT. But I think your post should say that your happy I am slow cause your motor is still running haha.

You realize the current 5.0 L V8 has nothing in common to the old "tried and true 30 year old" 5.0L V8. The 5.0 was scrapped in the mid '90s and replaced with 4.6L modular motor. The only thing the new 5.0 has in common with the old one is that it happens to have the same displacement. Please stop trolling.
