I don't think it's the percentage as much as it is the "color"? I dunno - but I've had other vehicles done in the past & they "matched" better.

The shop I went to seems very professional and I had a great experience overall - so I shot them an email - including a link to this thread & the monster "show us your tinted window" thread - and anticipate we'll be able to figure it out.
Thanks for all the input and examples! Valuable info. I'll update once I've heard back from the shop.
We were referring to Lacrosseman's. but looking at yours again it does have a lil green tint to it, but unfortunately that is a characteristic of certain 3m films. Like I said, some have a blue shade, some have green. You just need to have your shop get you a black film. That way you don't have the green shade you have now. 3m is one of the top tint manufacturers in the world but they produce so many kinds you have to really watch what you're getting.

It's usually the light from the windshield that throws it off. Open the doors with the sun out and take a pic comparing the 2. The back will look as light as the front then, and a color difference will be more obvious.

The front windshield will let light in allowing the front windows to look lighter. Plus the factory tint is integrated within the windshield instead of a film on the window. I used a tint meter on my last vehicle for the rear windows and matched it to front with what the tint meter read. It was lighter in front even though it was suppose to be same percent and I used 3M.

Looks good, the windshield will let in quite a bit of light that will make it look less than the rears... And yes that will be a cop magnet (around here) I have gotten pulled over many times in different vehicles ONLY for window tint... STUPID!!

20% tint is not legal. 25% light transmission is legal which means 35% window film. Soon a I get my first paycheck I'm having 20% film put on my front windows.

I forget what percentage I got, but I think it was 20. At first I thought it was not a good match, but I think after a couple of days it looked better.

Welp - after a couple of days - I have to say - the color doesn't look as different as it did the first 24 hours after it was done. If I look hard or at just the right angle - the fronts appear more gray than black - but for the most part - it looks pretty good & close enough to me.
The fact that its been most sunny may help too as opposed to a cloudy day when I had it done - but honestly - I have to believe that settling of the adhesive used to glue the tint is likely the biggest reason for my initial concern about color difference/match to the rears. I know some have said that shouldn't be the case - but thats how it appears to me.

well i can say that here in Virginia window tint is in fact a cop magnet and illegal tint gets pulled over on a regular basis....my lexus is tinted with 30% (meters at 23%), legal limit with the waiver I have is 35% (non-waivered limit is 50% on fronts). In the last 5 years, I have been pulled over 9 times for window tint alone, only 4 resulted in tickets (the other 5 cops saw I had the waiver and didn't test it).

if it looks good or is fun, its illegal in VA!
