Default Newly purchased F-150 rust concerns

Hi all!

I just purchased a 2014 F-150 over the weekend. The car only has 32k miles but once we got home we noticed some rust concerns. We got a good deal on the truck but the rust was never brought up or talked about. I’ve attached a couple pictures. I guess I’m just wondering if this is abnormal and if we should return the truck? We have a 3 day return policy so we need to know if this is harmful to the truck or will cost us money in the long run. We did purchase the 4 year extended warranty for any engine problems. What do you guys think? Should we return it?

With that amount of rust I would be taking a serious look at your rockers and cab mounts. Some surface rust is normal. Where was the truck from?

Where is this truck from? At 32,000 miles, that does not look right unless it was a work truck in the oil fields or something of that nature.

Could you post a picture of the driver seat, under the doors, and the front suspension?

This is the front suspension. We were told it was a work truck that’s why it was priced lower. It came from Alberta Canada.

It was from Canada and we were told it was used as a work truck. The Carfax is completely clean that’s why we weren’t too worried about it but after speaking with a mechanic they said this is not good.

Being in Alberta, it doesn’t surprise me it has that much rust. That is quite a bit. I’d be leery of keeping it. But that’s because I have had bad experiences with rust on my wife’s escape. The others who are more knowledgeable will give better expert advice. But if it was me, I’d be taking it back.

Probably 32k miles on dirt roads by the looks of those mud flaps. Mud on the wrong side.

Looks like she was rode hard, but if you got a great deal, decision is yours.

Thanks for the advice! For the miles, and price I would say it was a good deal not a great deal. I guess I’m just concerned with what issues might arise from the rust in the future and if the truck is safe.
