Default Newbie Question

I am new to the forum and to F150 ownership. I bought a 2011 SCrew Ecoboost about 6 weeks ago and love everything about it. This is my first brand new truck so I am kind of paranoid and ocd about it. This morning I noticed that under the wheel well behind the tire the piece that comes up from the wheel (I think it is called the steering knuckler) was completely rusted. Since I have never owned a brand new vehicle I was not sure if this was normal or not. Has anyone else noticed this? Should I let the dealer look at it or am I being to paranoid? Thanks for the help.

It's a truck, you're paranoid, enjoy your new ride, get on with your life.

I sprayed the bottom components with LPG Lubricant. keeps the rusting to a minimum. These parts like any truck are bare steel.

Haha its your new truck I completely understand youre a tad obsessed with it. But if it does bug you to see it you can always get the bottom of the truck coated with underbody spray. You can get it in at a place like autozone or get a pro to do it

Check into some Aries floor mats, unfortunatly they dont fit the 2011's yet as they changed them a little from the 2010 model, but they will in a couple months i think was the last report, best mats ive found on the market for front seats, I dont like the weathertech near as much, but its the best option ive found for the back seats so far. hopefully when Aries rolls out their new front mats for the 2011 they will also make a back mat like weathertechs that goes all the way under the seats. They are a little pricey, but they are well worth it, unless you enjoy vacuuming twice a week, haha!

I have a couple pics of them in my album, but they are all dirty and white from the salt, lol, if you search Aries you can find better pics of them from other members when clean. I just took mine to illustrate how much better build quality and thicker they were than the weathertechs cheap placticy ones. Aries are soft rubber, and warrantied for life. The aries ones are also grippier and the weathertech is slipperier.

Lighten up, Francis! Many parts in/on/under your truck are not painted and will rust rather quickly...look at your brake rotors after sitting outdoors in the rain for a weekend. Don't be concerned. You are not going to keep it in pristine condition forever. You need a nice door ding or two to put things in perspective! There comes a time in your vehicles life when age and wear have taken their natural toll and you decide that your time and effort are better spent elsewhere...this is the point where you really start to enjoy your truck. Things like driving down a narrow two track with branches dragging down the side of your truck are no longer to be feared, but welcomed. Soon you will not be afraid to set a pair of shoes on the hood or park near another car in Wal-Mart's parking lot.

Breathe deeply, it will all be over soon.
