What's the brake key off 3 times method?

1. Inflate all tires to pressure listed on tire placard
2. Turn ignition to OFF position and press and release brake pedal.
3. Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN position 3 times, ending in RUN position.
4. Press and release brake pedal.
5. Turn ignition to OFF position.
6. Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN position 3 times, ending in RUN position.
7. Horn will sound once and TPMS telltale will blink once train mode is initiated. If equipped with message center, it will display TRAIN LF TIRE. Place antennae of learn tool on sidewall of LF tire 180 degrees from valve stem to activate sensor. Horn will sound once sensor has been recognized, Repeat step for RF, RR, and LR tires.
8. After training LR tire the message center will display TRAINING MODE COMPLETE. If the vehicle is not equipped with the message center display, successful completion can be verified by turning the ignition to the OFF position and not hearing the horn sound. If the horn sounds, the training procedure must be repeated.

that just gets it in training mode, LF hold the tool next to sensor and when trained the horn will beep, then RF repeat, the RR rear and last LR. dash will read training complete. make sure when you press the training tool a little red light will come on. lots of YouTube videos on how to train sensors. my training tool is 10 years old and battery is low and I can't figure out how to change without tearing it up, really thin fragile holder.

Was this issue ever resolved, if so please share as I am having the same problem.
I installed brand new OEM tires and wheels including TPMS from a 2018 F150 onto my 2009 F150.
After about a days of driving I got the "Tire Pressure Monitor Fault" error.

You need TPMS senders for an '09-'14 F-150. Those 13th Gen TPMS senders can't talk to your 12th Gen truck's TPMS.

So I have a similar problem with my 2017 with aftermarket wheels with supposedly Ford OEM sensors. If I drive more than 15 miles continuously the system throws a fault. Then if I let the truck sit overnight the system seems to reset itself and the fault is gone in the morning. I won't get any more faults until I drive a minimum of 15 miles continuously.

Dealer says it must be a faulty sensor.

Any ideas?

Edit: I should note that when there is no fault, i seem to get tire pressure readings. I wonder though if the fault resets at home overnight because the truck is close to my other set of wheels in my garage. Not sure on tpms range.

I believe that is exactly how a tpms system is supposed to work. Sounds like a faulty sensor. Do you have Forscan set up? Or something else that will read the pressure while driving? Perhaps you could identify which is the problem if you put all 4 up on a screen.

Unfortunately, I don't have Forscan set up, but perhaps something I should look into. Wheel and tire shop is replacing all 4 wheels this week after they damaged while they had them in storage (long story), so I think I will also get them to replace the sensors and actually show me the sensors installed (they were supposed to be OEM Ford).
