I just heard from Ford concerning my cracked grill. This is copied and pasted from the email response from Ford.
Hello Robert,

My name is Jane and I am from Ford's Customer Relationship Center. I received your email regarding your 2012 Ford F-150.

I am sorry to hear about the cracked grille on your vehicle. I understand that having this issue on a brand new vehicle is very upsetting.

I have researched your concern and our records indicate that you contacted the Ford Customer Relationship Center on 10/11/2012 and our Customer Care Representative advised you that we can not over turn decision by our Digital Imaging and no assistance will be provided. At this time we are unable to provide you with an alternate response. If any additional information regarding this matter should become available in the future, please let us know.

I apologize if I failed to provide you with a more positive result. Despite all this, it is in my best wishes to have another opportunity in the future to restore your confidence in our products and services.

Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.

Sincerely,
Jane

I wonder how many times they might have an opportunity to redtore my confidence in their product if they can't do it with 7000 miles on a brand new truck.

HOLY F*** dude!!! you just got hosed.

i would take that email to the dealership where you bought the truck and say to them nicely... "it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch.. " pun intended with your truck being red.

Wow. That sucks man. Sorry to hear that. Coincidentally my (former) friend texted me about 1/2 an hour ago.

My boss said def should be covered under warrantee

Bring it up here we will take care of it he said

Me: Yeah, He said he doesn't know what he's gonna do. He's arguing with Ford over it though.

They should def replace it, he'd have to be the hulk to slam the hood that hard to crack it like that

Wish i could help more than that

now that's good buesness. even if that dealership eats the cost of the new one on their dime, it's cheap advertising and most likely a write off to them.

a 500 buck replacement grille gets that dealership even 4 additional sales in any amount of time, is still worth it in the long run.

if this happend in alberta, i'd surely drive out there just for a few oil changes if it was fairly close enough to me.

well, lets try and deal with this in a more positive form.

you ever build model cars when you're a kid?

my suggestion (now cause they won't fix it) is this.

on the back of the grille, after you align up the crack, scratch the plastic with a box cutter about 1/8th of an inch on each side of the crack, then, glue that who.. back in place. sand an inch wide on either side of the crack. then get a touch up pen and some brown paper towel from a gas station. dab the pen a few times on the grille, and use the paper towel to rub the paint around. this will prevent running and blotching. let it dry, and repeat a few times until you're half decently satisfied with the situation.

if it's a big gouge, use the paint to fill in the "valley" before doing as instructed up above. anyways, don't worry about getting too carried away with the paint pen. once everything is dry, dab a bit of paint thinner on a brown paper towel and give the area a gentle rub down. the goal here is to even out the paint a bit without going too deep.

after that man... just pray you don't take a rock and i'd start looking for an aftermarket one that will make you say "mother f*cker... that's one sexy fix i did and i'm damn proud of it!"

best of luck
