Default New truck is in. Now we're haggling over price!

My truck just came in and I'm looking to pick it up tomorrow. It took almost 4.5 months to get after building it Jan. 6. It is a King Ranch ecoboost 4x4.

Its all fine and dandy except for one thing. We agreed on a few things.
1. $11,000 trade on a loaded 2004 F150 Lariat 4x4 scab with roush offroad exhuast, fuel cap door, k&n airfilter and in very good/excellent condition. Bad thing is, is that it has 130K on it.
2. $2500 in rebates

When we ordered he told me that I needed to give him a $1,000 leeway on my trade in during the time the truck was being built but said he would honor any new incentives available during the wait if anything better came along. I said thats fine but its not a definate yes that I'm going to drop my trade down a grand. I do'nt think it would have dropped that much in value???

I also found out a month after I ordered the truck that I am eligible for an X plan discount through my company. He said he would honor it.

Ok, so now I get ready to go down to do the paperwork and he throws this at me over the phone.
1. Your trade is now worth $8,000 but I'll give you $9,000.
2. The X plan is only worth 2% or roughly a grand.

I think he could tell I was not happy and I told him to send me a run down on what we decided on in January and what each discount added up to be now.

I am in sales and know you don't change your prices when you go to deliver your end of the deal. The 4.5 months of waiting pissed me off and now this on top of it just makes my blood boil even more.

Any suggestions? Anyone ever use the X plan discount? Is the dealer correct on the x plan discount? Maybe I'm blowing this out of proportion.

If they treat you like that before the sale and the long wait, just wait till you have to deal with the Service Department....

I would tell him he said the 11,000 and not take anything less. I think 11,000 sounds good even with the mileage. unless it ends up cheaper with the x plan and less on trade then don't worry to much.

no matter what you should at least get the equivalent in the discounts you negotiated on in the start, whether that includes x-plan or not fine..but make sure you don't pay a penny more...also do you have the first deal in writing?? if so he is obligated to honour it...I made sure in my deal everything was on paper.

I would remind him that your trade in has a fuel cap door.

I do have the original deal on paper. It said $11,000 trade + $2500 rebates. I'm at work otherwise I'd show ya.

I'm going to bring that with me tomorrow.

Now, actually I think I should still get the X plan on top of everything else. Sure he said $1,000 leeway on trade, but I know it didn't drop a grand in 4.5 months. I'd cut him some slack on say $500.

Stuff like this burns me up because if I did this stuff with my business, my customers would drop me fast and find somebody else.

he's saying your truck lost over $3K in 4.5 months? walk away!! don't deal with this dealership. shop around somewhere else. this is just my opinion. but i wouldn't take that much hit on trade.
