New Tires Time 275/65R20 or 285/65R20

So Costco has their rebates right now, and I am needing some new tires.
Likely I will go with the Michelin Defender LTX M/S. I don't go off road, doing landscaping work. This is my family hauler too, so I need quiet. Kind of considering the BFGoodrich T/a KO2's but don't really want the added noise. So my main question is what size of Michelin's do I get? 275/65R20 or 285/65R20? My stock tires are 275/55R20. My rims will stay factory. I have the SCT programmer so I can change the speedo. I have bilstein 5100's set at 1.5" lift up front. Curious as to if any one of you has pics of your tire set up? Pics would be very helpful with what size you have and if you have any lift. |
You're right, better jump on those Costco rebates before they run out. They started them in about 2002, and I'm sure one of these decades they will be over!
Those Defenders are impressive tires in what they do, pretty plain in what they look like. You might want to make sure those sizes will fit, you haven't lifted it very much. |
Thanks, either size should fit fine, according to the info I found on this site.
And yes Costco has several tire rebates throughout the year, just not always on Michelin. The tires are pretty plain looking, I just don't need the added noise and ride changes from putting on a more aggressive looking tire. the BFG's do look nice though. They are a similar price... |
The BFGs are a very well made tire. There will be minimal noise if any you recognize. If you like that look, go for them. Very good tire.

I have Bilstein 5100 w/ 1.5" level also running 275/60/20. i'd recommend them. could have gone with the 275/65 but I opted for the smaller for city driving and comfort.

This is the '13 I had with Bilsteins at 1-1/2 inches..tires were Toyo AT2's P275x60x20. 33x11 not much performance and mileage loss with the P rating.

Great looking trucks there fellas! Thanks for the pics. As much as I love the look of both of those tires you have with the off road style tread, I am going to stick with my highway tread. Hope I don't regret it...
Thanks again for the pics. That helps me out. |

Michelin makes some great hwy tires but I live out in the country so I take it in some muddy areas occasionally and need all terrain tread. The tires on my dually are Michelin LTX AT2's which are more hwy then all terrain..they are quiet on the hwy but do offer some light off road traction. Good luck with your decision.
