Default New Tires/Rims TPMS

Hey, I am looking into buying a set of rims/tires off a 2012 from someone and they have the tpms on them. I have a 2013 f150. My question is when I go to put these new wheels on how do I program the truck to recognize these new tpm sensors on the new set of wheels. These new wheels are all oem basically take offs from another truck. Thanks for the input!

The three sets of rims and tires I've had on my truck just automatically picked up the sensors in the rims and there was nothing I had to do. (Two factory ford rims and tires and one aftermarket set)

If they are not picked up automatically, the manual gives step by step instructions on how to "make it happen".

I just put new wheels and tires and tpms on my 2011. No warning lights, and works fine. I think what the manual's program procedure is for, is to teach the truck which sensor is where. Without programming, I suspect, if you have a sensor failure, the pcm will indicate the wrong position of failure, or no position at all, making it difficult to find the bad sensor. I intend to program mine someday, just haven't had time yet. I think all 2011's and up work this way.

This week I just put 2012 wheels/ tires on my 2013. No problem what so ever. Never had to do anything. If I was to ever get a low tire msg on say "left front" , I'd check them all because I didn't retrain the computer, telling it tire location.

You'll have to post some pics when you get the new ones on!

Alright sounds good, thanks for the info guys. I am getting just the chrome 18inch xtr rims. They look a lot nicer than my silver stx rims which I hate, ill post picks on the thread in a few days when I get them on my truck

Heres my truck with my new rims and tires on. I really like the new set better, the ride is a little smoother and the truck sits an inch higher than with my old set of tires
