Bilstein shock lifespan?
Need some advice here guys. I installed Bilstein shocks on all four corners on my 4X4 Eco at around 7k miles. I set the fronts to .75 lift and used the stock coilsprings. I currently have just under 50k miles, how long should these shocks last?
The reason I ask is because recently I’ve been hearing and feeling a clunk under my driver side floorboard when going over bumps, rough roads, railroad tracks, etc. I have a feeling it’s the driver-side strut assembly, but I haven’t had time to take it to a shop yet.
Anyone have experience with a similar sound/feel?

Hard to say. Depends on driving habits, terrain, etc
Is the shock leaking? Can you push down on the corner of the truck and get it to bounce excessively?

I noticed at highway speeds I had a ton of vibration in the steering wheel. I found that I blown the front passenger shock. I had mine rebuilt, and ended up replacing tie rods, and upper and lower ball joints while I was at it. I find it interesting that so many people believe that shocks are a lifetime part. Depending on your habits, shocks can last anywhere from 50,000 to well over 100,000. Rough roads, and offroad use can shorten the life of a shock.i found it easier to Jack up the truck take off your wheels and look for leaks.

No leaking that I can see. It feels to me that maybe a mount came loose or is broken.
But I’m just guessing. Won’t know until I take it in next week.

I put over 100,000 miles on Bilstein's on a previous Ranger and they were still going strong. On my last truck, a Frontier, the stock Bilsteins in the front went out at around 120,000 miles (I was pretty hard on that truck) and the rears made it to about 160k miles before I noticed ride quality going down.

I replaced my Bilstiens at 250k on my superduty with new Bilstiens and felt no difference. Big waist of money for me.
