New Tires
 

I know everyone has probably asked a tire question and it is most likely worn out being answered, but I do have a question as to which tires would be the better choice. I am looking at Cooper Evolution H/T, Yokohama Geolander H/T G056 and Toyo Open Country H/T. I do mostly highway driving and sometimes pull a 6x12 or 7x14 trailer. Very little do I ever go off road, don't need to. I have a 2013 F150 XLT Texas Edition, 5.0 l engine, and supercab. The original Michelins are almost gone and I do not really care for Michelins anyway so am not looking at them. Any insight would be helpful. Tire size looking at is 275/65R18 as I feel the stock size tires are way too small and yes I am being vain as they don't look right and leave the wheel well way too empty. No suspension are done nor do I expect to do any. Thanks for the opinions.

Well, if your truck came with 235/75R17's you will be throwing your speedo off 3-4 mph, unless you have a tuner.

With gas inching up to the $3.00 mark I would make sure and get something that rolls easy, not too aggressive, and I say that because as soon as I take off my studded snow tires in the Spring my mileage makes a comeback.

The Hankook AT tirs deliver good mileage and tread life, and after I wore out the second set I went with Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo II tires, and they are getting the same mileage, and maybe have a little more traction on dirt.

I don't know what the tread life will be, but I ran the Hankooks 40k miles.

Stock tires are 265/60/18. I know the speedometer will be off but it isn't that accurate as it is now.

Michelin Defenders are by far the best rated tire for highway driving.

I agree. You probably had some of the "OEM" Michelins, which are crap. Don't paint the whole company based on that. Defenders are not cheap, but they are the best, I have them on 3/5 vehicles at my house right now. I was impressed with the Bridgestone Alenzas on an F150, too. Probably the 3 you are looking at aren't bad at all, either. More important might be whether you want P or LT tires. Depends on how much towing you do, and how heavy those trailers are.
