Default New Tire Purchase

Well .... after much surfing and looking... I finally pulled the trigger.

I have a 2013 Platinum 4x4 Crew Cab. Added 1.5"AS level kit.

Ordered 305/55-20 Cooper AT3. Tire place mounted first front tire and noticed that they rub on upper control arms.

Shop foreman says.... " I have another tire that your gonna like... I will have it here in 1 hour"

I come back and he has mounted Toyo AT2 295/55-20 XT. They do not rub. They look very aggressive. I took a road trip to Orlando. EXTREMELY loud on the interstate and felt some mild rubbing when turning.

I called the dealership back and he said no problem... I have just what you are looking for.

Brought the truck in and he mounted Nitto Crosstek in size 275/65-20. They look good, not very agressive but after doing some research, I noticed that this tire size is only available in HD meaning that it is meant for 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. I have notice a grinding type feeling in the wheel and the pedals. I had it looked at by Ford and they state that it's from the tires?

Whats your thoughts? Should a half ton truck be riding on this kind of tire? I'm almost tempted to order another set of tires on my own dime? Either Revo 2 or Rugged Terrain?

Thanks for your input

its probably just a 10ply load E tire. Not a big deal and is used regularly when towing a heavy load or in most oversized tires. The crosstek isnt that aggressive of a tire to warrant an issue IMO. I'd look for another cuplrit.

I'd consider the Cooper Zenon LTZ as well. I had STT's on my old truck and loved them. I imagine the LTZ's are just as good.

Think I'm just going to order another set of tires.
275/65-20
Which ones?
Toyo AT2
Cooper AT3
BFG Rugged Terrain
Bridgestone Revo
or Nitto Terra

Drive Primarily on highway and around town with occasional trip camping and hunting. Needs to perform well in the wet weather.

I have the 275/65/20 Toyo AT2s with no lift or level and I haven't had any rubbing issues. In a way I kinda wish I had went with 275/60s just to keep the MPGs and the power loss to a minimum but they do look great and ride great. The road noise is more than the OEM tires but not much. I am pretty picky and I think the road noise is acceptable. I returned some Mickey Thompson ATZs for road noise.

They are quieter than the BFG ATs on my FJ cruiser.
