Definitely didn't update anything except MY EXTREME DISPLEASURE FOR ANYTHING FORD AND SYNC!

After my lovely 1.5 hrs of letting the truck load up the atmosphere, I checked the website to see if there was a suggested time frame for the upload (previous updates did suggest it may take 30 minutes or more) - nothing noted so I have no clue if I was close to the end or if the entire process is FUBAR'D........

I have been waiting nearly 2 YEARS for an update and then this piece of crap. Should have known better.
Just replace it, Sync is hot garbage. I swapped to a $200 pioneer double din and never looked back. Connects every time, everything works perfectly...just like you'd expect in the year 2017 with a 20 year old technology.

I'm gonna do this with my old ford unit:

I just installed the update on my 2012, and my USB2 port is still working. It initially had to be set to USB Line In, but after restarting the truck, it was back to USB2.

Would like to hear how long it took you to update. Did you follow the instructions - or go about it on your own? The reason I ask is that I followed the instructions emailed to me and I had issues from the start. First, it stated that an install process was already initiated. Never saw any messages that stated the install was completed (instructions state that this will prompt you early on in the process - BUT TO IGNORE it). Never saw that message. After 1.5 hours of attempting to update I shut it down.

Second attempt - same thing

So - I went to the truck to make a THIRD attempt to update:

Now when I press the install button, it says ,"Installation already in progress" and then goes to "Installing Files". Last time I let it sit there for over an hour with the truck running. Trying again - 20 mins in so far.

Prior to attempting the THIRD install, I did a Master Reset and Factory Defaults to attempt to wipe out what it may have attempted to load, but it seems to have cached the install and keeps on trying to get it done.....

Does anyone know of a way to wipe out the install file on the hard-drive?

FordIVTteam - Could use some help here......

I know you attract more bees with honey than vinegar - but the issues I have had with this truck are mind boggling.

SYNC issues - after numerous weeks of diagnosis - they had to replace something in the steering column to make it work
Sunroof - broken tracks - had to replace entire unit
Waterpump - started leaking around 60K miles, had to replace the pump, t-bracket, degasser bottle...
Brakes - at 20K had to replace the rotors all around
Rear Window slider - had to replace the entire rear window to get it fixed

If I didn't have the greatest love/hate relationship with this F150 - I would have dumped it long ago.

I manually downloaded the update and instructions from the Ford Owners site. My previous update was from 2013. I followed all instructions, including starting with a Vehicle Health Report. Everything went according to the instructions for me. It probably took about 20 minutes total.

I'm sure it's not related, by I had my PCM flashed earlier this week ahead of installing a 5* tune tonight.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Working with SYNC Support on this now. Key Clears, Master Resets - nothing is fixing it. They have escalated it and asked me to be patient... How much more patient can we be - been waiting for two years now.

There is a new thread on this as well:

https://www.f150forum.com/f38/sync-u...g-file-304122/

Here is the thread from IVT Support today - So frustrating. More so - they are editing the chat notes before they send them to you - there is a whole section that has been edited out...:

Please wait for a SYNC Agent to respond.
Doyonne says:
Hello David. My name is Doyonne. How can I help you?
David says:
can you please provide an update on this case file: CRM:02444000001543
Doyonne says:
Thanks for contacting the SYNC team. Let me transfer you to our Customer Relationship Center for help with this inquiry.
David says:
ok
Raquel says:
Hello David. My name is Raquel and it will be a short moment while I quickly review your inquiry.
David says:
thank you
Raquel says:
You’re welcome. Thanks for waiting. I am happy to check for the status of your case. Bear with me a few moments longer while I look into this, please.
David says:
Thank you -
Raquel says:
Thanks for waiting again. I see that you contacted our In-Vehicle Technology Team regarding installation but it remained in progress. Did you receive the e-mail with the steps the agent sent you on 3/20?
David says:
yes I did and as I responded this did not address the issue
David says:
I performed the Key Cleasr and Master Reset
David says:
Even performing both of those solutions, the system still states that an installation is already in progress
Raquel says:
I see. Okay. I will get you back to an In-Vehicle Technology agent for assistance with troubleshooting this issue. You case number for this issue is CAS-11905929-C3F3J3.One moment please while I transfer you.
David says:
Each time I contact support, I am instructed to do this. But it never fixes it. What is the status of my case?
Kim says:
Hello David. My name is Kim. How can I help you?
David says:
Please read the thread first
David says:
so - the update failed and nobody seems to be able to fix it
Kim says:
You need to get into a dealership. Do you have any other questions?
David says:
I now have 2 case numbers - but a broken system
David says:
they won't touch it - said I have to deal with IVT
David says:
Is thst the result of the initial case? That I am to go to a dealership? Why wasn't I contacted by anyone?
David says:
Hello? Kim?
Kim says:
You will be contacted when there is a resolution, however if you do not want to wait, then the dealership is the only other step.
Kim says:
There is nothing else I can advise, other than to wait for a follow-up contact from the person who is researching your case. Otherwise, a dealership is the only place where you can have the system looked at.
David says:
The dealership is what sent me to IVT for support. Is there an estimate of when a resolution will be ready?
Kim says:
There is no estimation, on the notes.
David says:
IS there a person assigned? There has been no contact in the last week other than what I initiated? Several member on the F150 forum are watching this process before attempting to update their systems. I am trying to keep a positive update on hthis.
David says:
Sorry - my typing skills leave a lot to be desired....
David says:
I have encouraged them to update - some have had success. So I am confident that this can be resolved. But waiting for two years for an update, and then to have the update fail - well that is not very fun.
Kim says:
I understand your frustration, but all you can do is wait.
David says:
That is where the frustration emanates from - waiting
David says:
Will i receive a copy of this thread in my email like the others?
Kim says:
I know, but there is nothing else I can do about this. Do you have any other questions?
David says:
no - but thanks for looking into it

That's actually not a new thread. I started it in June 2015. Someone is having similar issues and brought it back to life. I ultimately gave up on the update, so I feel your frustration.

Is it possible to view album artwork from Spotify when connected via Bluetooth (MyFord Touch)?
