THAT would be one quick little truck, and could still probably get high 20's mpg on the highway.
I doubt that the conceptual drawing (which I think IS the Ranger sold elsewhere in the world) would be an accurate rendering of what they'd sell here.
A tow rating of only 3,000 pounds is also pretty weak.
it WILL have an ecoboost engine, but a 4 cylinder one not the 3.5. And 3k towing is plently for that market. The F150 covers the needs of heavier towing for those who need it. most don't. Heck I've never towed anything heavier than about 4k lbs in either of my F150s. Look at all the Rangers you see, how many are towing? not many. They are service trucks and personal vehicles.

Looks to be on the Focus frame like the new escape is. Too "bug" looking for my tastes, also the nose kinda copies the new body style of the explorer as well

My ranger has over a 5000 pound towing capacity, more than some F-150's. That is not why they were phased out, they were phased out because the compact truck segment was dying and Ford knew it. They would have wasted millions retooling to redesign the Ranger for the US market when the compact truck segment was in the toilet. The Rangers are actually very capable trucks, not to mention boringly reliable.
