update, still saying its a glass issue and the warrantee does not cover it. Ford offered to reduce the cost down to 405 from 660. still not happy about it, I can read clearly where my warrantee says rear defroster. the glass works fine the electronics in it not so much, guess it is all in how you want to look at it.

I had the same "misunderstanding". Apparently you are covered if they file the claim under the part number for the defroster but not the part number for the window. If Crystal can't help maybe you can get back the money you spent on the extended warranty!

My rear defroster stopped working also, but my warranty ran out in May. To be honest that rear window is so small it's almost useless anyway. I've gotten used to using my side mirrors and backup cam any time I back up, so having a rear window frosted over is manly just an annoyance. I guess I'll have to live with it because I'm not footing the bill for a replacement.

My rear defroster and mirrors will not defrost now either. Mine is a 2012 with 57k miles. I bought the additional warranty, so hopefully it will be covered.

It's the contact in the rear window not making contact. If the rear window won't defrost neither will the mirrors. Had the same issue on my 2012.

That's funny, My mirrors defrost just fine and fast too, but not my back window. Maybe the wiring is different in the 2010.

I have to same issue. The rear defrost light doesn't light up, but my mirrors still work. Also my rear slider doesn't work all the time. I have 48k miles. No warranty left except for powertrain.
Is there a way to unplug or unhook the rear defrost so I can get the light to turn back on.

Yup, the whole window needs to be replaced. I tried everything to get it to work but no luck. Is Ford even considering helping owners that are out of warranty? (Crystal). Luckily I had an extended warranty...it really stinks that this is one of those problems that Ford knows about. When I had mine at the shop, the service manager told me that my truck was the 5th one in two weeks to have the window replaced! Of course it was during the blizzard ...
