Default New rear defroster issue!

I have a 2012 with the rear window defroster. So far my back window is still intact and not broken, but the defroster won't turn on. ( yes i know it is summer!) I tried it about a week ago to burn off the morning dew from rearview mirrors, just for fun, about 30 seconds, then turned it off. Tried same trick this morning, and no go. The amber indicator light does not light up. I just checked the 40 amp fuse and its relay and both are fine and seated properly snug in engine bay fuse/relay box. I am sure i will have to take it to the dealer, but wondered if anyone else had this issue yet with rear glass and outside mirror defroster. Thanks.

When I first got my truck the rear defroster would work intermittently, staying on for a few minutes then not coming back on. Eventually it quit working all together (no exploding window). Dealer diagnoses found that my rear defroster failed and I received a new sliding window under warranty. I noticed that this window looks different from the original one so there is an updated replacement.

Its the contact on the slider window hold the two pieces together and have someone hit the button on the dash and see if it lights up. Crappy design on fords part.

Mine did the same for about a month, then quit completely. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole window under warranty.

Have you made it in to the dealer yet, whitescrew77? How many miles are on your truck? Be sure to post your outcome.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see your results, Laxman09 and whitescrew77. Don't forget to come back and share what you find out.
