Default I feel like dealer is double charging

I have a common issue with my trans leaking from the bolt head connector. I read the TSB and looked at the trans. The dealer wants $525 to fix. I asked what a fluid exchange cost and they said $180. I figured the new connector cost is $26 and would only add 20 minutes to the job at that point. Is my thinking correct here. I feel like they are charging full price/labor for the exchange, then full price/labor for the TSB. Is this what I should expect?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought TSB's were done at no charge.

I think they are done at no charge under warranty, but beyond warranty, I'm not sure. Doubt it. A recall would probably be done at no charge, TSB, probably not.

OP, if it isn't under warranty, I might see if I could find a good transmission shop and get an estimate from them. Once the warranty is over, the dealership is kind of hard to deal with on price. Whether or not their service is better than the private guy varies between particular dealerships and particular private shops.

Assuming TSB's are not covered beyond the warranty, of course. I'm 90 percent sure they aren't, though...

TSB = Technical service bulletin and is a guide for technicians to repair a specific problem, they are covered under basic and extended warranties provided certain criteria are met.

Recalls on the other hand can be performed at no cost even beyond any warranty if they are deemed a safety issue.

Kinda what I was thinking but wasn't 100 percent sure.
