New MFT Update?

So, every commercial jet built in the last 20 years has avionics that include predictive "turn lines" built into the navigation displays. Do the Airline Transport Pilot rated folks flying the jets "need" them to fly. Of course not. But did the PhD human factors engineers build a positive business case (100% required before any feature makes it into a modern jet) that showed that the "turn lines" enhanced safety and reduced crew workload. It is proven human factors tenet that the human mind is able to recognize and cognitively utilize picture type information much quicker than just raw data. If it is good enough for the men and women sitting up front in those 500K lbs, 600 MPH vehicles, well that is good enough for me. Very limited added cost (all software and algorithms already written) and potential enhanced situational awareness, well sign me up.

But after scouring the web, I have yet to see any mention of this update.

Again, you miss the point. Quite a few of the airplanes sitting at the airport out at Broad Run do not have predictive turn avionics. And they fly in the clouds on instruments only every day. BUT......it has been proven that predictive displays enhance safety and reduce workload. And enhancing safety and reducing workload is a good thing be it airliners, ships, F150s, or tricycles. The technology is already developed. Why not make it available. You asked for an explanation of how predictive displays might be used. I gave you an example.

I asked how they would be used on F150's not plains, trains, and...... Damn, can't use that one!
