I'm not sure how well you can see them in the pictures, but I dipped my wheels. The one looking from the back is older, and I didn't have them completed at the time. My recommendations if you're going to do that is take the wheels off. get a deck of cards or two and stick them between the wheel and tire if you don't want dip on the tires. If you don't care, then spray away. It peels off easy off the tires. Make sure the wheels are clean. Like... super clean. No brake dust, no dirt, nothing. And when you do it, let it dry, spray another coat. On the corners and bends on my wheels, the dip didn't stick too well. Probably because I didn't clean them very well...lol. Also, for other plastidipping needs, Walmart only carries black, white, and the glossifier. Lowe's has black white red blue and orange and the glossifier, I think. Been a while since I checked. About $6 a can. Get 4. I only used 1 full can and about half of another, but they definitely need more than that. I've used it on my bumpers, and my toolbox, and most recently, my taillights, and it's held up nicely. I've done about 5 coats on the front bumper, and 3 on the back, with an extra bit on the front edges of the back bumper.
Good luck on your build, man! I want the cluster, wheel, and headlights too. They look great! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks, Ambrose! I really am digging your wheels. The tires too. The thing I like about the dip option is that if I don't like it or get tired of it and want to change it up, I can just peel it off! I like your deck of cards idea, btw.

No problem! I didn't do the cards this time around, but I will next time. These are just the stock 17 inch aluminum wheels. I like them, but I bought it used, and the wheels were already crappy looking from 70k miles with probably little to no cleaning. I've actually been thinking about doing some more plastidip on the hood, but Wally world doesn't pay too well. It works on SOME interior pieces, too. I can't upload the picture here because I'm lazy and don't want to resize it, but check out my IG Black_five_four I have a picture of what I did to my dash on it. I used dip to check out how it looks. I had part of my door panels dipped, because I hate the "med stone" of the interior of my truck. (Apparently, medium stone is a tan color. who knew?) It didn't hold up well on that soft rubbery plastic of the door panels, because of the high use area that it is. Looked 100x better though. Lemme know if you need any more help, man. I'm usually always available.

When you do this cluster swap, take lots of pictures. Maybe a video showing it all working. Im searching ebay every night for a cluster.

Will do, Steve! And good luck on your search. Let me know how it progresses and what you find.

I have to say that I have been VERY impressed with this truck so far. Working on it is a breeze. I am used to restoring 60s-70s european cars. The design of this truck is so that even a child could work on it. Its quite enjoyable actually. Not many busted knuckles.

Zax, I had to get the wheel liners and floor mats in because in a couple weeks we will have ice on the roads and that means SALT on the roads. I want to protect my truck as much as I can but I plan on using it this winter. This season is the whole reason I bought this truck. 4X4!!!

How are you liking your truck as a DD? How long have you had it?
