New to me 2013 Crew Cab 5.0
Hey guys so I just bought my truck and I had a few questions about some of the posts I've seen on here. It's as the title says a 2013 Crew Cab F150 with 5.0 engine. I wanted to know if there are some things I should perform preemptively as maintenance. Like sealing the 3rd brake light, replacing shock absorbers, or replacing front end components. The truck is a 4x4 with 55,000 miles on it, so it's got some use, but should I wait for these components to fail or should I go ahead and perform preventative maintenance? Thanks in advance.

Congrats on the new truck, post some pics. I bought a '13 CCLB w/ the 5.0 back in January w/ 47,500 miles on it and I'm at 55,xxx now. I have 0 problems with my 3rd brake light, I'm worried if I take it out and seal it I'll end up creating more problems. I plan on buying aftermarket LED smoked light so I'll replace the gasket when the time comes. My truck rides very smooth so I have no reason to replace shocks (was thinking about new ones to level it out but I'm just going with spacers). 55,000 isn't a lot of miles, if it's not broken, no need to fix it. All I did when I bought mine (was already "serviced") was replace air filter and reset PCM/KAM (just unplugged neg. terminal on battery for 15-30 mins and flashed the lights to drain capacitors) that way it'll learn my driving style "fresh". Not even necessary. Other than that just enjoy it.

How's she goin' eh?
Pics or you didn't buy squat!
Kidding, welcome to the site. I'd keep an eye on the 3rd brake light. I am, I think I've been lucky. I unplugged my rear defrost, I'm not taking the chance.

Iowa winters are harsh and I've never even felt like I needed to use the rear defrost so that's good.
OP - if you're going to stick around here, get your wallet ready. :P

Well here she is, with my homemade tow hook. Thanks for all the replies, I'll take the advice given here and leave well enough alone, and not create problems where none exist. But what I would like to do is some of the upgrades I've read about on this site. So I'd like to ask one more question of those of you who have installed mods/upgrades what is the single best one you have done so far? Which one could you not live without? I'd like to eventually get a level with some nicer AT tires, get tuning by mpt or 5 star, get bilstein 5100's or equivalent, and install a hellwig sway bar or roadmaster active suspension. But unfortunately I can't do all that I want at once so I have to pick one. Which would you pick?

Oh and I'm in Southern Louisiana, so the rear defrost is pretty much a non issue, but I've disconnected the power to the window just encase I ever accidentally press the button.
