Default New key

If I ordered a new key off eBay how much would the dealer charge to cut and program?

Depends, do you have one or two existing keys?

If you only have one key, it's typically 1/2 hour labor, but it depends on your dealership, they might charge as much as 1 full hour.

If you already have two keys, then all you need is to get the new key cut. Take it to Lowes or Home Depot, i think they charge $10 to cut it. Then you can program it yourself using the directions in your manual.

Not sure about the remote start but I am in the same situation as you. I only have one key that came with the truck when I bought it. The dealer said they would cut and program it for $60. I am going this Saturday to have them take care of this for me so we will see if the price changes.

You should have three programmed keys for the truck. If you lose one you won"t have to go back to the dealer to program another new one.

I was quoted 213 for a new key, cut (by a local locksmith) and program.

Does that price also include the key?
When I had to replace the key for the Mustang it was $105 for the key, and $65 for 1/2 hour labor, to cut the key and reprogram the car with the the old and new key, took them about 20 minutes to do it.

Beware of locksmith keys, most are clones, not original. That means the locksmith makes a copy of your current transponder code, puts it in a new transponder and then puts it in the new key. You effectively have two identical keys that cannot be used to program a third. For $213, go get a key from the dealer.

Also beware of Chinese knock off keys, most of them have the same exact transponder code in them. Meaning once you have your new knock off key programmed into the truck, any other Chinese key is now authorized on your PATS and can start your truck.
