New guy with a few questions
Hey guys I just picked up a 2011 FX4 super crew 5.0 with 9,000 miles a few days ago and have a few questions.
I looked on my door and my axle is listed as L6, I'm assuming that means I have the 3.73 gears? I know it has the locker option by pulling out on the 4wd ****. Also it came with a hitch and and the hookups for a trailer, but no brake controller, do I have the towing package? Also I have the tow haul button on my gear shift and the option to switch gears with a button on the shifter. When I go into the display between the gauges it has a towing menu and the trailer sway option. If it does how hard is it to get a brake controller?
I have the navigation screen and noticed it says dvd. Can I really play a dvd on there?
I'm over half through through my first tank of gas, but it still says I have hundreds of miles to go until empty, how large are the tanks? I believe it was over 500 miles to empty when I first picked it up.
Does anyone have any advice maintenance wise or for anything else with the truck, this is my first f150 and truck for that matter

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but you probably have the tow package, but not the max tow as that comes with the brake controller. Your tank will be 36gallons, or 136L

Sounds like you have the tow package. Pop your hood and see if you have a small transmission cooler in front, that's another indicator.
My 2012 came with the towing package, but no controller (stupid, eh?). The dealer threw it in at no cost. You can buy the factory brake controller at a dealer, eBay, etc.
Once installed, the dealer will have to flash the ECM for it to work.

Your Owner's Manual should explain 99% of what you ask....have you read it?

Yes you can play a DVD, but the truck can not be moving. Sounds like you have a 36 gallon tank. Around town i get about 400 miles on a tank. On the high way, when I drive from Maryland to Texas I get 600 miles to a tank. The wife and kids have learned that we don't stop until the truck needs gas. I have a 2010 Lariat 4X4 screw with 5.4. I really enjoy the truck and had not had lick of trouble with it yet. (Knock on wood). Have fun with your truck.
