<sigh> guess its back to doing my own oil changes and such
dealer around the corner from my office usually has a decent prices on getting my oil changed and such so I've just been dropping it off there because its convenient.
The last time I went they told me I should probably change the air filter, when they told me the price I said to leave it, I'd swap it out myself. So I get home that night and go to swap filters to find the air box lid half opened because they didnt put the clamps back on...it was late and they were closed and I never remembered to call them.
I dropped it off today, told the service writer about em leaving the air box lid open so I check the truck before leaving and what do ya know? The air box lid isnt closed completely. Thats real great, lets let a turbo truck suck up dust
if they cant deal with the damned air box lid I guess I better go check all my lug nuts are actually tight
seriously, can nobody do anything right?

I feel the pain, I said early on when I bought my new truck there is no way in hell I'm taking it to someone else except for programming and electronic related things.
Then I got to thinking even more about that and decided against that as well and ordered an interface cable and software so I can have dealer level diagnostics and programming at my reach, found a great deal that is Ford certified and was only $500.
I'll reprogram my own pcm and what not.

I havent been as **** about this truck because while its a nice truck, its a truck...not like my mustang or the lightning I traded on it. Theyve never messed up servicing our power stroke that Im aware of.
I did the second oil change (first was free) and putting the front on ramps to get to everything the oil filter makes a huge mess when you take it off so for the price I was just letting the dealer handle it

I usually take care of my own maintenance, but recently have heard great things about a local dealership. Started taking my truck there for the last couple of oil changes, and I couldn't be happier. They are top notch guys, and don't try and add on a bunch of stupid stuff to pad the bill. All said and done I can have the oil & filter changed, along with tire rotation and a load of other stuff checked out for $10 more than I can buy just the oil and filter myself. I still check everything afterwards just to be on the safe side, but so far no issues.

If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself.

Question for you guys doing your own maint.
I've never owned a vehicle that was under warranty before and have always done my own maintenance . I was going to let the dealer do the maint on this new truck but i read post after post after post of dealers screwing up routine maint. Im really considering just doing this new truck on my own as well.
What are you guys doing as far as keeping evidence of scheduled maint should a warranty issue arise?
Just receipts and mileage for oil changes?

I've done my own oil on my previous car. I haven't done one on this truck yet but I will do all maintence work on my own. though at my local Ford dealer, I know a few salesmen and all of them in finance since I deal with them at work (loan officer at a credit union). so I know they won't mess with my truck unless they want me denied their deals.
