I'm still waiting for guys to come along and say they changed their oil at 1000 miles to get the special factory break-in oil out lol.

Hey guys I just turned 24000km (14900 miles) on my 13 fx4 5.0 and went to book a oil change at the dealer. They checked there computer for my name and my truck information and it came up saying at 24000km thy need to do a brake service? Anybody else have this done at this mileage interval? I was able to have them put it off because in the spring I'm doing my 2" AS Level with Add A Leaf and 295/65r18 duratracs and after this oil change I'm probably putting my truck away for the winter. Since my last oil change at 16000km my oil life monitor is at 52% lol

Much less after 3/4/5k miles! I wouldn't want those particles floating around in my $40k truck! Not to mention the fact that these race teams used the very best oil and filters possible! So if it happens there you know it happens in regular engines!
Considering they are tore down with new parts installed constantly they have that issue. This has zero to with an engine that has had no mechanical changes from initial break in. There is something out there called oil analysis. ... give it a whirl on some new oil from the jug and then some on your 3k change. You will see why you are just throwing oil away. P.s..... i build engines for fun including those for a circle track team.

Use the monitor and if you use good quality synthetics and filters it's still throwing the oil away lol.

What did the "service" all entail? Unless your brakes/rotors are shot, dont do it.

I stick with ford filters, full synthetic oil (not a blend), changed when the truck's monitor tells me to change it. I'll occasionally do a change a bit earlier if we're going on a longer towing trip and the oil's not fresh.

It entails change engine oil and filter, multi point inspection, check all fluids, rotate the tires, lube front axle, check battery and service brake system for a total 400 dollar bill, I usually just the above done except for lube axle, service brakes and check battery. I always rotate the tires every oil change because its free lol.

So how does the Oil Life Monitor thing work? I went in and checked mine and its set for 100%...always has been I guess. What sort of notification will I see when its time to change? Why would one want to set their monitor up at a lower percentage?
