You really can't gauge reliability on any new vehicle. You have to look at the history of the vehicle, product lines and the manufacturer. I think Ford speaks for itself in all categories.

I don't want to turn this into another bailout thread but if a company took a bail, they've also made drastic economic changes that will show up in the quality of the vehicle. Once again, Ford speaks for itself.

I was in the market for a new Super Cab FX4 with a 5.0 and 3.73 gears this upcoming Summer but now I'm having second thoughts.

So I'm here asking how you enjoy your F150 and if any what problems have you had so far. And prior to buying your F150 what were you driving?

Hope I don't touch a nerve here but I would like to know what I am getting myself into here before signing any cheque. And for the record I have test driven the F150's, Silverado's/Sierra's, Ram's and the Tundra's. I know people that own each of the above trucks and all have nothing but good things to say.

So lets have at it, fill me in on the PRO's and CON's of the F150's
trust me, you can find enough horror stories on any brand/model to scare you stupid (freak crap happens to all of them). Go with whichever one fits you best which sounds like it's the F-150.

Man go with an F-150. These trucks have quality craftsmanship like no other. I have had a couple of bugs with mine---Sync bugs,Miss in engine under load at 55MPG, Power Steering, transmission hard shifts, and warped brakes. I will say this--All of these issues except the brakes have worked themselves out. I had these issues at about 3000 miles now I have 13000 miles on it and the miss is gone, tranny shifts nice and smooth, power steering works great now, and I did a update on Sync. I didn't do anything to fix the issues, they just kind of worked themselves out. I am thinking this just had something to do with getting broke in. I do have to replace my rotors but thats it thus far! I am telling you the issues I have had just to be upfront with ya--not to scare ya. Like I said these issues are gone and I love my truck! I have driven a Ram, Chevy, and Nissan for my job and I love at the end of the day getting in my F-150. Just by far a better truck.

I've had my mind set all along on the F150 before I even owned one simply because of the looks and the constant redesign/updates Ford is always offering to the line of vehicles. I have no problem with a Blue Oval sitting in my driveway.

I really appreciate everything you are all saying from personal experience. And I do have to agree that it does generally take a year or two to work our minor flaws/bugs from new designs either on the inside, outside or drive train. So it will be interesting to see what will be available come the time to buy it...being 12' leftovers and possibly '13s coming to the lots.

Does anyone know of any possible changes for the 2013 Model? And if so do you think those changes would be worth it VS taking the extra deals most dealers will be offering to move the 12's off of their lots?

On a side note, a rule of thumb my pops had when I was growing up was that they didn't buy any vehicles the year or two after the new body style/motor/etc came out, just so the company had time to work out the bugs after changing from one model year to the next after a big redesign. This doesn't just apply to the drive train, but just the vehicle in general.
Actually all four engine options are brand new for the 2011 model year with the ecoboost being the last to debut. It seems to me about 99.5% of 2011/2012 f 150 owners are very happy with their purchase! You will see by the banter in some of the threads that we all seem to stand by our personal engine choices so your most important decisions are what to option your f 150 with and the right engine for your needs.

There will probably be a refresh in 14/15 so I wouldn't perceive anything major for '13...especially not that would be worth giving up ~$4-5k in rebates plus haggling...

6.2 was available on the Raptor in 2010.
