New F150 Owner
Hey all, I purchased my first ever F150 this weekend. It's a 2014 FX4 3.6 ECO with 37k miles.
In 2 separate occasions, I noticed that when I put it in park there appears to be a loud, airplane like noise coming from the radiator but then it goes away after a few min. From what I have research, people say it's something to do with a fan clutch. However, I am not experiencing any power loss, and it's very inconsistent only in park. Is this an issue, and if so how big?

Boost :)
1. It's a 3.5, not a 3.6
2. 2014's engine tuning caused the fans to be on at a much higher level and speed than prior years. There is no fan clutch on these trucks as the fans are electric. If you can video the noise you are talking about, it will be a lot more helpful.

The fans when the ECM commands 100% are very loud compared to other vehicles. That's a normal characteristic for how the truck was engineered.
You'll hear a number of experiences with the fans being annoying. In the end the noise might be annoying or loud, but that's what Ford produced.
The earliest I've had the fans come on was 92 degrees Fahrenheit. The truck was parked in my garage over night. After pulling out, a minute and a half later the fan speed changed to a more nominal speed.
Most of the time when the fans on my truck go 100% the I'm driving in slow to moderate traffic at speeds of 45 mph or less with temperature indicated on the console of 98 degrees or greater. Going down the highway for any period of time I can't recollect the fans coming on.
