Default New to the 5.0 world, couple questions.

I test drove a 2013 5.0 4wd with 3.55 rear end and was less than thrilled by the throttle response, I'm coming from a SD 7.3 diesel.

I've read a little here and there where the power on them is in the higher rpm range so you have to get them rolling to feel it.

Will a tuner help adjust throttle response or do you have to get the pedal commander? If a tuner will help what brand do you all reccomend? If I get it, I'm not looking to rod it, looking for better mileage and throttle response.

Thanks

If you don't mind spending $400, a 5STAR tune takes out throttle lag, fixes the tow/haul so your truck isn't hunting for gars on grades, and lets you change tire diameters, speed limiter, etc.

I just bought the X4 from 5*. They have a sale going on, plus SCT is offering a rebate too. Save ~100 total depending on which tuner you get. Great turnaround on the tunes too. I received the tuner at about 2pm the day before thanksgiving, plugged in to my truck asap to get the appropriate info for the tune request form, submitted the form online at ~3pm and had the tunes by dinner time. Installed the 87 daily driver that night and was on my way thanksgiving morning without issue.

I'm running the 87 Octane Tow/Perf tune. I've put 100,000 miles on the tune, couldn't be happier.

I have the 5.0 with 3.73. Tune is only the way to go. 5-Star or MPT with the SCT X4 7015 tuner probably being the most popular. Check through the vendor marketplace and there are usually some deals on used/demo models as well.

Thanks for the info on the vendor marketplace. I picked the truck up today and I'll check it out. Be looking for some different lights too, used to the silver stars in my suder duty.
