Default Stumble Proof your Ecoboost

There is a thread in the 2011+ Engine section about stumble proofing your EB.
It has a lot of good information in it. You can probably fix much of it yourself in 10 minutes.
Or you can let Ford fix it like they have been trying to do for 3 years. Just saying.

my 2013 hasn't done the stumble yet, but with 750 miles on it, I would be bringing back to dealer and demand a new truck because Ford has not fixed the issue and still selling them. This is extremely disappointing. Never would have thought Ford would disrespect there loyal F150 buyers they way they have but it is playing out right before our eyes.

I'm coming from a Mercedes ML320 CDI so I would think I'm part of a target Ford wants, trading up in capability to a high end, high profit truck. This is just so disappointing. I ruled out Ram and Chevy due to first year re-designs and thought the F-150 woulds be solid by now. Needless to say with 700 miles on the clock this makes me nervous. We'll see what the dealership has to say.

I have about 1900 miles on my 2013. 800 of those miles driven in hard rain on the interstate. I have floored it and have not experienced this issue yet (*knock on wood). I'm not sure what my build date is but hopefully I never encounter this problem.

The so called upgrade change was trucks built after 9/18/12,, so I think you still in the Ford roulette wheel if your truck has the issue. Mine was built after that date and I haven't had the issue but I don't find myself in the right conditions too often this past summer nor traveled in it for hours (rain/humid) conditions. I find it disappointing that trucks still being built have this failure.

Mine was certainly built a while after that date. So that sort of sucks for me! I'll check the Intercooler part number and see what I have when I get home. I had high hopes for this Ecoboost...

If you take this one issue out of the equation, the EB motor is fun to drive and the truck responds great. I am not 100% sure myself if I need to get rid of or take the wait and see approach.

If I can remember correctly I think they last updated it in build date 3/2013 or something like that. since I have a 2012 I really didn't pay much attention to it. But if you can find out exactly what build date it is was and if your was after that then it would tell you and others it still isn't fixed. but however if yours was built before that date take it in and have them do the update. I think I did read that someone did have an issue still after the last update but I am not positive on that! As for the EcoBoost performance overall... I agree 100%,,, it is a beast, smooth and not to bad on fuel although I would think it could be a little better but on the other hand I had a v6 in a Nissan truck and the best I got in it was about 18mpg the same as I am getting now on a truck almost twice its size! Since it has only happened to me when I floored it,, I don't do that and plan on not doing so in the future... so it is a matter of not passing the rig unless I can do so applying a little more throttle. But I hope they fix it so we all can enjoy our trucks without wondering if it will happen again!

I'm guessing this is the dreaded water in the inter cooler issue.
