New 2011 Trailer Disconnected Message
Hi I just replaced my '03 4.2 XL Reg Cab 4x2 for a New '11 5.0L XLT SCrew 4x4 .
I have had the new truck a week and this morning when I turned it on the dash said "Trailer Disconnected" and chimed. I cleared the messaged and went on my way. While driving on the highway about 60mph the message came back with the chime, I cleared it and then it came back a second time. I have never connected a trailer or touched the connector and I did not touch the trailer brake controller on the dash. I only have 384 miles on the truck.
Any ideas what is going on? I can't get to the dealer for a few days.

odd. I know if I go to a certain 'page' on the display screen, it shows 'Trailer Disconnected' but I've never left it on that screen and it has never made a sound. Usually I keep the display on the 'Off Road' app page or Trip A. No idea what the Towing page will actually say when I do finally connect my trailer.

I just checked the connectors and they look clean. I have an appointment with the dealer for next Wed. On the phone he said he has never heard of this.
In the manual it states the message only comes up if a trailer is disconnected (I have nothing connected), the TBC is manually reset (I didn't touch it) or if there is a wiring fault. I am going to suspect a loose connector/wire on the truck.
I'll post what I find out.

Just got back from the dealer, service dept. is open until 12am! They took about a half hour and said Ford has a TSB on this issue. They said the software on the TBC has a bug causing this problem. They said it can't be updated so they are going to replace the TBC with an updated one on Sat when it comes in.
