Default Need some wiring help with reverse lights

I am trying to wire my rigid reverse lights. I do not want a switch and only want them when I am in reverse. I tried to ground both lights behind the taillights and t-tap into the reverse light bulb but they don't work. If I unplug the passenger side the driver side works. Any suggestions?

We did this on my Red FX4. Let me see what I can find from that install.

So we used the starkey back up kit with the starkey wiring, but this should be inte info you need.

(in the trailer hitch wiring) The wire you need is white with a brown stripe, though double-check your adapter wiring. Starkey's kit comes with a quick splice that makes it extremely easy to tap into the reverse lights. Once the quick splice is clipped on, Jay connected the separate blue wire spade to the quick splice.

and here is the entire install

Your trailer wiring "cap" (the one that springs open for using it), has a diagram on it that shows which wire is the ground (center if memory serves) and the reverse is the one up and to the left of that. The cap makes it really clear which is which.

I have wired my truck and 3 others with aux reverse lights this way and they all work perfectly.

Not sure why in the hell I'm having issues with this but I installed some led reverse lights and when I put the truck in reverse I get the check park aid warning in my dash. Lights and camera come on just fine.

I tried wiring the lights right into the trailer harness and grounding them to the bumper. I also tried wiring in a relay using the 13v power from the trailer harness and I still get the warning. Any ideas? The lights are a 36w total draw. Super low

There've been others with that problem. Mine has been perfect, the only thing I did different was wire the ground to the hitch wire instead of the body.

I'll try the trailer ground. It's worth a shot

Well I grounded the lights and the relay directly into the trailer harness geound. No more check park aid warning, I just don't have the park aid feature. The one that beeps at you when something is behind you. I can live with that. The screen pops up and then the check disappears from the on or off box, whichever you have checked.

Yeah, mine still works. Based on the threads about this, I'm thinking I got lucky or something. I didn't even add a relay since there is one on the hitch wiring and I'm not using it for anything else.

Little update. Put everything back together and it's working great. I have rear park assist, lights and no warnings. I'm guessing it was a ground issue of some sort.
