Don't worry the Sony system sucks too. In my opinion there are roughly four tiers. There's the cheap stuff that you see like Jensen or "Vibe" or whatever. Then there's nice average stuff like Infinity, Alpine, Polk. Then you have a higher end range of say Diamond, Focal, etc. Then finally there's that range that few play with where a pair of speakers is like four grand.

I began my Sony overhaul with JBL and then ended up with Focal. This topic is very subjective, keep that in mind. Someone will say "get this brand and your ears will bleed!". Well screaming highs don't sound good to me, but do to others. I'd advise either listening to other peoples setups or deal with a retailer that has a good return policy.

Also remember that a good processor, the right amp, and the ability to adjust with an EQ will make or break any speaker - even the best ones.

Mine did. I ordered from Crutchfield. They're not normally the cheapest but their customer service and return policy can't be beat plus they'll tell you whether or not the stuff fits your vehicle and supply all install instructions and harnesses, etc. IMHO, well worth the extra few bucks.

yeah i totally agree with you...Ive used Crutchfield in the past and they send you everything you need.

but sometimes...you might be able to catch these speakers like 50% off on amazon...hard to beat that. lol

I replaced mine with Infinity 6829CF on all four doors, no amp. Much better quality sound than stock and an easy swap.

If not amping them I recommend the polks from the second post. If amping them I'd grab Alpine type R. the Alpines are better, but really need an amp to make them perform.

This is a great deal on a set of great components. You'll have to cut an adapter (very easy) and they will want an amp but you can't beat a $350 set of speakers for $100

I am looking too upgrade my system too. Keep the recommendations coming! I have the cash to do this now, so I want to do plug n play or may check out what best buy has to offer or is that a bad idea? The stock speakers in this truck really suck. Thanks everyone!
