Default Need help with suspension

Where can I get good front coil overs that don't give any lift? I don't really want to break the bank by spending $800 on something like fox that is intended to give lift and just leave it at zero, but I don't want to go with the same cheap junk that came stock. Any suggestions?

O man, I don't know of anyone who has done that. I am interested to know what's out there. Off the top of my head, bilsteins come to mind. They are adjustable. I guess you could leave them at the lowest setting.

I'm thinking about going with these:

And maybe these for the rear if I can verify that neither will raise truck.

I don't tow often, but when I do it's about 6k. I also seem to weight down the bed with stuff about once a month. Usually no more than 1,000 lbs, but still enough that I want to make sure I have the right shocks in back too.

I don't want to lift because I have enough trouble fitting in parking garages as it is. I originally planned on going with larger BFG KO2's but decided stock size would be the better choice for me. It's tough when you use a truck like a truck on weekends, but it's still your daily and you need to make sure it's always able to fit where needed. ha.

Front:
Lifting isn't the only purpose of the $800+ coilovers, they should also be better than OEM for ride. Pretty sure those Monroes are the equivalent of OEM. Rock lists them under "original ride", too. Ranchos are Fords upgrade, which makes them slightly better than normal stock. Those aren't near as expensive as Fox, Icon, Boss. May be what you're looking for. Some have just changed the front shocks, not the whole strut, and been happy with some improvement.

Rear:
I'll bet what you really want is a Roadmaster. I don't have this, but if reviews are to be believed, this fits your comments.

Yeah, I've looked at the roadmaster active suspension and that's not really what I'm looking for.

I don't want to change just the front shocks as I don't think I could do it myself, but I think I could change out the whole assembly.

You're right about Rock listing the Monroe under original ride, but All of the Rancho options seem to only come if I want to lift. (Are there other rancho options that don't lift?) I really don't want to do this due to height restrictions in parking garages. As it is, there are many garages where I already hit my antenna driving in. It's just not worth the risk to go up another few inches.

Bilstein 5100's at stock height setting or the Bilstein HD's which have just about the same internals as the 5100's but not height adjustable. These are the yellow and blue versions. Had 'em on my '04 Lariat and they were great. Used front and rear you will have a more tuned firmed up ride but not rough. You can purchase these shocks online and usually range from $350 to 450 for all 4 depending on what you pick. Both versions that I've had definitely helped with towing or hauling heavy loads. I use my truck daily and I'm still able to get into low parking garages as long as they're marked 7 ft clearance to be safe.

Thanks. When you say HD are you referring to 4600's? That's the only other option I see.

I have never had bilsteins but the fellas on here love them. I would go with the bilsteins. As for the stiffer ride, it's way better stuff than stock, TRUST me. The control factor is crazy better. And with the bilsteins setup you can keep your factory rake!

If you change your mind, and want to talk about coilovers. F150 lifts makes a nice coilover that everyone loves. The biggest and most important thing I would tell you is this. The factory ranchos that came with my fx4. Not really much of an off road shock, certainly not an upgrade. The factory shock go pretty fast. The bilsteins will last you a long while. Once you loose that floaty feel. You will be happy. Trust me.

Thanks. I called f150 lifts, but they don't have anything to keep a stock height. Guess that's why they are f150 lifts and not f150 stock. lol
