I have a squeaking sound that comes from the bed of the truck when going down slightly bumpy roads. I finally figured out that it is the tailgate. if I grab the tailgate (while closed) and push and pull on it fast it makes the noise.

Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you fix it. I would take it to the dealership, but it's such a PITA that I would rather fix it myself.

Maybe the latches are a little dusty/dry? Might try a little lubricant of some sort on the latches and see if that clears it up.

 

I have sprayed them down with silicone several times, it stops it for about 2-3 days then it starts back.
