After a hauling educational moment, the cap of my tailgate step and the rods that hold it in place and act as it's pivot point are no longer with my truck... I stopped by my local dealership to order replacement parts yesterday. Getting the cap is easy, but none of their schematics have the rods listed. The gentleman helping me is going to call ford directly Monday morning to inquire. In the event they can't get them separate or are over priced they should be easy to make at home.... Here is where I need someone's help, if someone on here with the step could take a few moments to measure the diameter of their rods I would greatly appreciate it!

Have you maybe thought about getting the set up from a local wrecking yard? You might just be able to buy the whole tailgate setup.....I'd be happy to measure mine for you if you'd give me a little more information as to exactly what it is you need the diameter for....

Thanks! No luck finding a truck or tailgate at local yards... They are the bent rods seen in pic below. I never imagined the dealership would have difficulty with them, so I made the mistake of recycling them with the cap.

i think your looking for the hinge pins.nope... now i see, posted close to the sametime..

I had to replace my tailgate step pad previously. The rods come with the pad when you buy the pad.
