Ecoboost.

(Go to Youtube, and watch the "Ecoboost Challenge" videos, there are like 6-7 of them.)

Very impressive.

You should buy what I have because my decision is beyond question. I'm always right, look like Brad Pitt, have an excellent track record with the ladies, walk old ladies across the street, host silent auctions for the homeless, and I'm working on a cure for Cancer and the mumps in my spare time.

Damn, we sound like a bunch of beetches. Buy whichever you prefer and let-it-go.

My next truck will have a 5.0 and 3.31:1 gear ratio.

Meh.

I'm not too worried about it. The worst offenders in that category seem to be Audi V8's and since the EcoBoost is not an Audi V8, I think I'm ok. Also, if EcoBoost engines were clogging themselves up with carbon I think we would have heard something about it on the Flex/SHO forums.

Direct injection is the way of the future. Better get used to it now.

I drove both in similar configurations and wasn't that impressed with the 5.0's power compared to the EcoBoost. I felt like I had to give it a lot more pedal to do what I wanted it to do.

I ended up with the EcoBoost and have no regrets. I love the engine and it has been getting 15.8 mpg in mostly city driving and it's not even broken in yet.

I thought about the 6.2, but I felt that it was a total waste of money to pay for "sound." And for how much money I saved up front and how much I will save on gas each year I will literally be able to buy myself new turbos every 4 years and have them installed! Hell, after 10 years I could buy myself a whole new engine with all the money I saved!

Not sure where you live but if it is at high elevation I would say Eco. As for the towing needs you mentioned, the 3.7l would even work for you. If your desire is to hit the track then a tuned Eco is an amazing beast. As for the whole gas mileage debate, as you can see the claims are all over the place. The fact is looking at one over the other for mileage is a waste of time. The V8 is a good sounding motor and that is something that some folks like. You will probably get a better deal on the 5.0l as well but you never know.

The price of the ecoboost motor option seems like a relatively small price to pay for having a motor that hangs right with the 6.2 and easily makes driving more enjoyable than the 5.0. Not sure why one would pick the 5.0 after driving both. For all you guys saying the price was a factor, if you could get either motor for the same price, would you still go with the 5.0? I find it doubtful that you would...

So my driving is somehow less enjoyable vs. the driving pleasures provided by the Eco? I have driven both and your statement is 100% opinion based. I thoroughly enjoy driving my 5.0l thank you. I have stated before that if I had found the identical truck with the Eco for the same price I may very well have bought it but not because it gets far greater MPG, leaves the 5.0l in the dust or could tow loads that no mere 5.0l could ever come close to.
