Need 2 keys for software update?
I have a ford f150 2010 that’s needing a software update for some codes I’m getting. The dealership is saying I need both keys in order to get this software update, is that true? And if so are there any ways to get that extra key through a 3rd party for a more affordable price than the dealership is offering? About 150 for the key and programming
$150 for an OE key and programming is pretty good. I'd take that any day. They list for $200 for just the part.
There are far cheaper keys you could try. Like $30 for 2 keys. And then program yourself. Reviews are pretty mixed on the super cheap stuff, though.

I couldn't program my own keys & I've had 2010/11/12 &13 (apparantently I'm told you can with forscan) or dealer of course....
Now with 2 already programed. keys in a 2016 you can add/program a 3rd or 4th & just for the record when I took the two new aftermarket fobs to the dealer to cut I had to prove I was the owner of my trk.... ...I just done it last week !!
