I just updated my 2010 from vers 2.0 to vers 5.1X. Following the instructions, after it reached 5% of installation, I turned off the truck, locked it and went inside. Came back a few hours later and disc 1 was finished. Did the same with disc 2. No problems with installation or battery discharge.

As someone stated, the only reason they want the vehicle running it to make sure your battery keeps things going. That is the only reason.

My update was done while on a trip with no problem. It has some added features from the old map. For instance speed is now posted at the bottom of the map picture, more roads are listed here in the mountains. Updates to points of interest has really changed. The area walmart (murphy) gas is now listed. But the bank that has been here for years (daughter works there) is still n o t on the map update. Found that interesting. Also the area state emp. credit union that moved last year is still located in the old map position.

Will be headed on a 500 mile trip to fla the last of Jan, will see what else has been changed.

I would love to do the update but don't want to fork over that much $$. Have you guys thought about leasing out the discs, say $20 a pop and have them send it back you after the update? Then you could lease it out to someone else, would pay for itself shortly. Everyone gets an update at a fraction of the price, and you get yours free after 10 times. I would think everyone on here would be trustworthy. Or charge $50 and they get their $30 back when they send the disc back.

I did the update on my '09 with no problems. Not worth the $200 IMO.

Buy the updates on eBay after someone else has used it. You can make "backup copies".

Any pics of the nav screen and new features since the update would be great.

Also the description on the website says it corrects the channel line up for Sirius since joining with XM anyone know exactly what that is.
