Navigation updates?

Has anyone performed an upgrade on their 2009-2010 NAV?
I'm about to move to a relatively new part of town that has many roads not on my 2009 NAV version 1.0X and I was looking at the NavTeq site for the latest v5.1X version just released April 12th and noticed the following:
"In addition, this update includes: Improved voice recognition features, a Sirius radio channel lineup (corrected the channel lineup as a result of combining Sirius with XM) and Improved traffic alerts (moved to middleware 5 traffic feed).
This product also contains an update for your Gracenote® database."
So it seems for $199, I'm getting much more than just a simple "map" update, but software updates as well that are not normally available via a Sync update.
Curious if anyone can provide their experiences of what's really new with upgrading a 2009 NAV system...

I had heard awhile back, that part of the series of changes for the new 2013 model, would be an upgraded Nav system.
I just read this in the past week over at another F-150 site:
....Just read in the Ford Magazine I get from the dealer I purchased our truck from.
The 2013 Navigation system will get a huge up-grade. It will have faster response time, different screen, the maps will be more three D & up-dated etc.....
So far for 2013, bigger brakes, new headlight system, new grill, new Nav, a few more interior upgrades in the dash and trim, a couple of new colors, more tire options.

Seeing your post sometimes really sucks the life out of me trying to decide on a truck lol . I have a ford dealer that can get there hands on the exact fx4 I was looking for with about 9500 off msrp...but in the back of my heard are your post with the 13 info in them. The only thing was the MFT now you know something about the brakes too. I know the 12 would be leaps and bounds over my non nav 05 but the MFT thing is what is really making me think...now the brakes too...the other stuff like headlights could be swapped in I hope.
Sorry to derail

If it matters, I bit the bullet and bought an upgrade. My new house is in a vast, relatively new development apparently built after the version of maps included in the 09 and I just got sick and tired of always being routed to come from one direction. In addition, there has been a lot of reconstruction and widening of the freeways here in SoCal that affected quite a few on/off-ramps and would throw the nav off and erroneously think I missed a turn or to "make a legal U-turn when possible."
Now all is well, after roughly 3 hours and 4 disc's of updating. I didn't notice any interface updates or changes across the entire application (e.g. non-Nav displays), but the "improved voice recognition features" seems to have now caused some mis-understood recognition where before I never had any problems. Not sure if I should "re-train" the system to my voice.
Anywho, though I'm glad the maps corrected a lot of out-dated information, I'm still peeved at the $200 cost. The upgrade process does require a License Key, which I'm not sure if can be applied to update other similar F-150's (when placing my order online, it never asked for my VIN).
