Default My thoughts on the ecoboost

Not sure I made the right choice of engine. I drove both the 5.0 and the ecoboost one after the other.

Ecoboost impressed me for the power it has off the line. I mean this thing will get up and go.

Not impressed with gas mileage at all. I mean if I can't punch it without it dropping half a gallon in mpg what's the point. Mileage around town sucks 12.0-12.5

Don't like that it's quiet as hell. I mean I'm driving a truck it should sound like a truck. Sounds like a Prius. Can't stick an exhaust on it cause then it will sound like I'm part of the Fast n the Furious clan.

I don't tow at all.

Wish I would have gone with the 5.0. I like the sound with an exhaust. Which sounds like a truck should sound. I did not need the towing power.

Don't get me wrong I love the truck. Def glad I came back to ford from gmc but just wish I would have thought about the engine decision more than the wow factor.

Just my thoughts on it. If u don't tow and want sound don't get the ecoboost it's not worth the extra 1100.00

Start Modding it then you will be impressed. After tuning mine I found my stock exhaust has changed note at WOT, I really like the sound of it now.

Pull out the silencers in the turbos to make the turbos louder

Or bite the bullet and trade it.

My Eco is the first non V8 I have ever owned lol. I sometimes miss the V8 sound. However, I do like the quietness and the turbo spooling sound the truck has.

Sean, really like how you blacked out your truck, looks good.

And I have my Mustang for the V8 sound, if I ever have time to put the steering box back in.

I'm getting 15.1 mpg mixed driving from my 5.0 so the eco mpg seems low, I drive the Ford normal though. You are still getting better mileage than my 2010 5.7 liter Dodge got.

As for sound embrace the smaller displacement turbo sound, if I owned an Eco I'd make it sound like this minivan 2:56 to 3:05 yeah!

Eco:
When not towing/hauling it gets the MPG of a V6 (in a big truck) or the 5.0

Boost:
Tows/hauls like the 6.2 (and gets MPG of that big V8 while towing)

At 12 to 12.5 mpg it sounds like you are really enjoying the boost more than driving it like the "little 213 cubic inch V6" you have under hood.
Keep in mind that under 1 atmosphere of boost, that engine turns into a 426 cubic inch engine equivalent.....nice to feel under foot, but not the mpg champ for SURE!
As for sound......I've done the V8 with custom exhaust all my life....Cobra Mustang/Bassani.....Corvettes/GM dual sound.....1969 Z28/need I say more.....and now? I am so enjoying the quiet luxury of the EB and that powerful and confident hum under hood.
If I were 25 years younger though, I would maybe feel like you --- especially if you don't ever tow with the EB, you are not truly appreciating what it does best.
And for the most part, the custom EB exhausts sounds like a 1988 Chevy Berreta with a hole in the muffler -- the ones you can hear coming and just KNOW it's that GM V6..........put your lips together and say ----- vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

"should sound like a truck"... I think the engine sound is pretty obvious from the moment you turn it on, you maybe should have noticed on your test drive, no?

mpg in town does suck *****. I got 18.xx mpg on a road trip through the mountains a few days ago, got home, filled it up, and bam, 13mpg in town. I'm sure the 6.2 would have done just as good

Your purchasing decision definitely was not well-thought out based on your preferences.
