Default My Tailgate Mod

One of my biggest pet peeves is the tailgate assist handle!! Love the step but HATE the handle as dirt/rocks always got in my tailgate.
Sooo...I did the following mod!
Remove handle/bracket and plastic liner.
Then installed standard tailgate plate.
Then Line-X the box and tailgate.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I like the handle for now, but you certainly made it look good after taking it out.

My friend has a 2011 with the step and handle. I hate the handle because things get caught on it when sliding them in and out of the bed. Also his 4wheeler bend it a little bit.

One of many reasons I deleted it!

Where'd you buy the plate?

I like having a smooth tailgate for loading plywood in the bed. The strippers pole is a neat idea but sticks up to high when stowed.

What year model did you nab the bed extender from? I want one like that, heckofa lot better than that cheesy plastic one they have now.
