Angry My new 6.2 overheated!!

2012 6.2screw 3.73. Just over 500 miles. Was highway driving today, no towing when all of a sudden the engine temp sign came on. I would have taken a photo (large red display, hard to miss) but I was kind of freaked out...brand new truck and all. Pulled over and called the tow truck. Had to wait two and a half hours...that will be another topic though I'm sure.

Anyway, it wasn't steaming or running rough which is why I didn't notice the increasing temp gauge until the entire display turned red with the warning.

Service rep thinks this might be a faulty exhaust sensor. Obviously I'm hoping its something minor. Does a faulty exhaust sensor make sense. Anyone else with overheating issues on the 2012 6.2?

Thanks.

Im not sure if it be a exhaust temp sensor but I know that ford has fail safe cooling if the engine over heats it shutdowns some cylinders and turns them into air compressors

Picked up my truck yesterday. Apparently one of the coolant hoses was not tightened down properly. According to the repair order, "the coolant hose was not connected at the oil heat exchanger." Must have fallen off while driving because I didnt see any leaking fluid.

It also mentions codes p1299, p1285 and 0217. Anyone know what that means? Is there a website somewhere that explains these?

Anyway, truck running fine. All is good.

The clamps have locks on them for ease of assembly. Ive had 2 3.5 gtdi and a 5.0 come in with blown hoses at really low mileage because the clamps werent unlocked. The p1285 and p1299 are overheat/failsafe codes. never seen a 0217.
