Thanks, I am the same way when it comes to mods. I actually regretted getting the myford sync because I wanted to put my Ipad2 in one of TKO's bezels. After driving it for a week it still puts a smile on my face every time I get in. I've been using my sun shades and haven't had any overheat issues. The sync system is a little temperamental some times so a simple unplug/plug of the USB and a quick "USB" voice command gets things reset.

It helps if you don't pair the iPad To the sync system if you plan on using USB. You can't disable(only forget) the Bluetooth on a single device from from the iPad, so if your running a OBD dongle you would have to disable the ipads Bluetooth entirely.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I just found this thread and I have to say wow, great job. When I first got my truck the one thing I wanted to do was replace the deck. When I found that couldn't been done, I wanted to install an iPad instead. But it wouldn't fit because of that damn 4.2" screen! You sir rock, now someone start mass producing this because I sure as hell don't trust myself to do that good of a job.

This style dash can VERY easily be made and sold if there was a place to find the factory radio bezels. They are very hard to come by in comparison to the original style ones which can be bought off easy for 20$. If u ever want to do an ipad install on that truck, start with buying the MFT dash!

One on some auction site somewhere.

$125 and free shipping. Sounds about as good as I have heard lately. Too bad I be broke.

I'm giving Alpine & Kenwood (I think there also doing something) a couple of months to show me what they have in store and how much that store is. If I like then I'll be going that route but if they keep delaying or it cost outrageous amounts which is likely I'll be finding a MFT dash on eBay and sending you a message!

If you are referring to the Alpine X009, good luck on the affordability part. They released the GM version already for $2,499.99

I would assume the F-150 version would be the same price.

Well that is ridiculous! Maybe wait for 50% off sale? Haha. I was thinking it was going to be around $1,500 but I guess thats just to reasonable. Well time to start looking for a MFT dash!

Nice, can't wait to see what you come up with. It would be cool to see you do what you were talking about with cutting the top buttons on your stock bezel and recess them behind the mft bezel. Than you can cut a slit on the passenger side of the mft bezel so the table can be removed(side slider) and still use all the factory controls.
