Had to post this. Just got this brand new 2014 XLT with every upgrade just about. I believe it's a 4" lift and he's got 35's. Not bad for his FIRST truck. Still doesn't have his license yet either lol.

On one hand, I'm thinking "must be nice to have that as a first vehicle when you don't even have your license yet". On the other, I'm glad I had a beater for a first truck. I did plenty of stupid things, and had to learn how to work on a vehicle because it didn't always run. When I drove it I to a ditch, I wasn't too mad about the bumper being beat up. I had a far better appreciation for the first nice vehicle I bought.

I'm not one of those who thinks everyone should have to buy their own first vehicle, but I don't think anyone should get, or in any way deserves, a brand new vehicle as a first vehicle, regardless of the parents financial situation. Even if they are millionaires, the first vehicle should not be something brand new.

All that said, it is a nice truck. Don't care for the red in the wheels though.

I can afford to buy my teenager almost any car on the planet outside of a true exotic. She drives a Honda Civic. Each to their own I suppose.

That's an fx4 not an xlt. Yeah I agree with the person above. Nice truck and all but I could deal without the red rims. Looks ricey. I think the stock fx rims look awesome. I don't see why so many ppl take them off

I'm not a fan of the red rims either, but they don't look all that bad on that truck w/ the red FX4 decal and all ... if there are/were red LED interior lighting then it would start to make more sense.

And yes, I totally agree that the current, stock FX4 wheels look amazingly clean and classy w/out looking "fru-fru". I do understand though why some people like to replace them ... 1) to make their truck different and more their own ... and 2) to get more offset for wider tires so that they won't rub on the UCA.

I've said before ... I wish someone made a nice, clean 6 spoke wheel that looks almost just like the stock FX4 wheels, but with a little more offset for putting on wider tires and giving a slightly wider stance. I'm just not a fan of the "deep dish" wheels to get that functionality. It's a shame most all of the aftermarket wheels have that huge lip on them to get that offset.

Yeah I knew it was an FX4, I thought I typed that but I guess I just was thinking about my truck haha. I am not a huge fan of the rims either. And to the person above I'm not sure what kind of lift, I will try to find out for you.

I really hope the kid (assumption) is a model kid / student that is earning the extravagant 1st. Else, I am not impressed.

Nice truck! Rims

It's times like this that I get a little selfish and resent my parents lol.

Good for your friend, its a nice truck. Unfortunately, with this as a first vehicle, they will not be able to apprciate what they have been given.

I drove a lot of junk in my 20 years being licensed. I appreciate the **** out of the vehicles my wife and I drive now.

I think everyone should have as nice a vehicle as they can, even for a first ... it helps you learn how to care for nice things, and appreciate them as well ... and hopefully teach you that hard work and saving money is key if you want to be able to afford your own nice stuff later on.

that said, when i say "nice", I don't mean super-expensive ... I just mean, no need for a total 'beater' as a first vehicle if you can afford to get something nicer.

I didn't drive expensive cars as a young person, but my vehicles were "nice" and I learned how to care for such things ... and just because a vehicle is nice doesn't mean it won't have issues that you can then learn to work on them yourself.
