Let's do some math:
3,500lb (car) * 100mph= 350,000
17,500lb (truck+boat+trailer) * 50mph = 875,000
Which do you want to hit you?

Pounds is a weight, not a mass and MPH is a speed not acceleration. Good try though, I got your point

Just call me sean. Really
If they are both going at a steady pace, there is no acceleration. Acceleration is the act of speeding up or slowing down. Maintaining a speed does not fall in this category

Jcain, evaluate your "math" (physics) and try again.
Pulling loads of 11k lbs is not unreasonable. In fact, it is actually.....wait for it.....reasonable. Holy smokes? No way batman? Yes, way. If 11k lbs was an unsafe load to be pulling his tow rating wouldn't be any where near that. He isn't traveling at 80 mph down some narrow and winding busy child filled street. He is on the highway/interstate/roads of least traffic. And any ways if he's not, who cares? I doubt he his going to be swerving in and out of lanes.
If it's stopping distance you are worried about then don't be, he has eye ***** and is an experienced driver. He knows to look ahead at not just the car directly in front of him, but at the cars in front of that car, too. He can read traffic and I bet will be traveling at a very safe speed.
I see zero issues with this persons plan. He is well within the limits of his vehicle and abilities.
I understand your concern about him being over loaded and unable to stop or avoid an accident. But as long as he does his job, which is the same job as every other driver on any road any where must do, it will be fine. It is the responsibility of every single driver out there to not only pay attention to what they are doing (their speed, lane changing, traffic signs) but also to what the drivers around them are doing. When one person stops doing that job they put themselves and others at risk. This person is a driver with much experience so I doubt he will fail to do his job correctly.

Oh, and I would want the vehicle with the most momentum to hit me. Both a geo metro at 75mph and a 17k lb truck at 70 mph both have enough energy to kill me. I would want to make sure it's the larger one just so I don't risk having to suffer on the road.
