Default Roof Racks

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum and have just recently purchased a 2012 super crew ecoboost that I'm really psyched about. I've had a number of older Fords (pre-1997), so I was hoping to get some advice on the newer truck.

I need to get a roof rack (just two-bar would do the trick) and am trying to figure out the best route to go. I've had Thule and Yakima on previous vehicles and just came across the Rhino Rack. I've been trying to do a little research, but can't find great info - somebody had mentioned in an Amazon review that the Rhino Rack (and maybe this would apply to Thule and Yakima too?) would not work with the wind deflectors on the windows. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd like to keep my deflectors if possible (I have in-track for the front windows and adhesive outside for the rear... just the way it came... I was planning to install in-track on the rear eventually, but want to get the roof rack straightened out first).

Any help/advice is much appreciated!

Cheers,
Joe

I have the window deflectors and the Rhino rack. I dont need the racks anymore, so I am going to put them up for sale soon.

Can I ask if you had any problem with wind noise at highway speeds with that setup?

In the past I tried a cheap one that clipped into the doors of my S-10, but it caused whistling when traveling at 70+.

The basket front bars vibrated in the wind. I gave it to my buddy with a jeep, those dont go over 65 MPH so he is happy.

Bars no noise, window deflectors not really noise. The huge mirrors make the wind noise.

The wind deflector makes noise.

I am pretty sensitive to noises and its fine if you have the radio on volume 10

Here's my setup...
The Rack started life as a Yakima but has been extensively modified...
The wind deflector is one I made from 1/8 aluminum, I have no wind noise in the back from the rack the mirrors on the other hand do offer up some noise...
