Default 2011 Ecoboost/tranny issues

I drove 100 miles (one way) to get exactly what i wanted and another (local) dealer is doing the repair work, so i don't know how much leverage i really have.

As i posted in the introduction threads, my new truck tranny has suffered the infamous pump issues. Unfortunately, within 200 miles and 24 hours of taking delivery, it started slipping really bad, smelling like burnt tranny fluid and leaking beautiful red tranny fluid all over my nice new concrete driveway. The parts have been ordered and it should be done in a few days. Needless to say, my first Ford experience isn't turning out the way i envisioned. Would you guys be gun-shy of this truck now, or be thankful the TSB has been addressed and drive it off the lot with confidence after the repairs are done?

i did purchase a 100k bumper-bumper warranty since it's a new motor, but i don't have time to visit the dealer on a regular basis and don't want a piece of crap.

anyone have any thoughts? do i need to relax, settle down and let the manufacturer repair its mistake? I don't want to be unreasonable, but don't want to be ignorant either.

Relax and settle down. Ford has always been good about fixing their problems, unlike Dodge where you have to keep going back and back again. We still own every ford we have ever had on our farm going all the way back to 67, never been dumb enough to buy a dodge and chevys always die off eventually, fords last forever, lol!

I wouldnt worry about it. Ford knows its a problem, and is taking care of it.

I wish more folks in this forum exhibited this level of cool headed understanding.

I had the same problem. After eight days in the shop the pump was replaced and I have had no problems since.

thanks for the replies. the parts are on order and should be @ the dealer Wednesday which means it should be finished Thursday.

The selling dealership assured me that i would either get my truck, a rental vehicle (of my choice) or a similar new truck for my trip this weekend.

I'll keep everyone posted...

Sounds like you have a good dealer that is working for you.
Nice.

No cars are immune from this kind of stuff. Go buy a $100K Porsche, $50K Lexus or a $15K Honda, and some percentage of them are going to have an issue way sooner than they should.

While it sucks to have significant problems with a brand new truck, at least the problem seems to be well identified and has a TSB solution. When the dealer/factory can't reproduce or can't resolve a significant problem, that really can be a nightmare.

Update. My replacement pump came in today and its of then same defective batch and they cant install it. In fact, then correct part is on "national backorder" which means nobody knows when it'll be here. They hope to have an answer for me when I return from vacation in 10 days. That's right, I said answer...not fixed. The dealer has an FX version of my XLT which stickers for almost 5k more. I offered to give them a check for $ 1, 500 if they let me have it. it has more options than I want, but was willing to pay a portion of the difference. They refused my offer. I asked for my money back, they ignored my request. So, here I sit without my truck and have no idea when I'll get it back.

I'm starting to regret my purchase. GM wouldnt have treated me this way. I called Ford CRC and they apologized for my inconvenience.

Sounds like a huge headache. They will get if as soon as they can. National backorder? Seems like a big issue and bad timing. I'm 100% positive they will fix the truck and you will continue to love your ecoboost. I have had problems with my Fords before but they always take care of me.

You mentioned that they were offering a loaner or rental. Hell even if they paid for part of the rental. Does ESP cover this? Mine states 10 days, up to $30 a day. If you could do a rental for your family trip, they may give you a loaner for around town driving. Most dealerships will have a used car that that just went over 80-100k miles or any mile highlight that you can put a couple hundred miles on.

I can see why they turned down your 1500 offer. They are business men. Your truck droped 5-8K when you drove it off the lot. With the $5K more expensive truck, that is $10-13K you wanted for $1500. Not trying to give you a hard time. I know you are frustrated, I feel for you. Call whoever you took your Extended Warranty thru, most are not from Ford. Get that rental car. Hopefully in less than two weeks you will be back on the road and driving your vehicle.
