Just had my muffler only changed on my truck with a magna flow told the guy at the muffler shop I had cai and program on it just wanted to open it up and let it breath. He put a a mf 12256 which is 2.5 in and 2.5 out with a 2.25 extension pipe then mated it to my 3 inch. Does anybody know of a logical reason for this?

probably the only muffler he had on hand at the time. I wouldn't worry about changing out to a 3" muffler as you won't see any noticeable gain in flow/sound.

Sounds like he sold ya what he had...instead of telling you he would have to get the correct muffler.
